Working Hours/Overtime
Scandia will seek business partners who do not demand work weeks of 60 hours or more on a regular basis, excepting for appropriately compensated overtime in accordance with local laws; we will favor business partners who maintain a 48-hour work week as their maximum normal requirement.
Forced or Compulsory Labor
Scandia will not work with business partners who, in the manufacture of their products, use forced or other compulsory labor, including labor that is required as a means of political coercion or as punishment for holding or for peacefully expressing political views. Scandia will not purchase materials that were produced by forced prison or other compulsory labor and will terminate business relationships with any business found to utilize such labor.
Fair Wages
Scandia will seek business partners who share our commitment to the betterment of wage and benefit levels so as to meet the basic needs of workers and their families insofar as possible and as appropriate in light of national practices and conditions. Scandia will not select business partners who pay less than the minimum wage required by local law or who pay less than prevailing local industry practices (whichever is higher).
Child Labor
Scandia will not work with business partners who use child labor. The term ‘child’ generally refers to a person who is less than 14 years of age, or younger than the age for completing compulsory education if that age is higher than 14. In countries where the law defines ‘child’ to include individuals who are older than 14, Scandia will apply the latter definition.
Freedom of Association
Scandia will seek business partners who share its commitment to the right of employees to establish and join organizations of their own choosing. Scandia will seek to assure that no employee is penalized because of his or her nonviolent exercise of that right. Scandia recognizes and respects the right of all employees to organize and bargain collectively.
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
Scandia will seek business partners who strive to assure employees a safe and healthy workplace and who do not expose workers to hazardous conditions.
A Commitment to the Environment
Our environmental policy aims to reduce resource consumption and pollution throughout the Scandia production process. We strive to select suppliers that pursue an active environmental policy regarding innovation and improvement towards reduced environmental harm; where economically feasible Scandia will motivate and support all initiatives taken in this direction.
Application of Standards
Scandia will apply Scandia's Production Standards in our selection of business partners. Scandia will seek compliance with these standards from our contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and other business partners.
To assure proper implementation of this policy, Scandia will seek business partners who allow Scandia full knowledge of the production facilities used and will undertake affirmative measures, such as on-site inspection of production facilities, to implement and monitor these standards. Scandia takes strong opposition to the use of force to suppress any of these standards and will take any such action into account when evaluating facility compliance with these standards.
