Maritime outfitters since 1974

Scandia was established in 1974 and was initially active as a supplier of workwear and bonded stores to Scandinavian vessels calling at Dutch and Belgian ports.

Increasing awareness of the need for compliance with SOLAS requirements effected a shift in the workwear industry, from production of common multipurpose workwear to production of items specially adapted to specific maritime needs.

Scandia set itself the objective of concentrating on high-quality workwear and safety equipment for the maritime and offshore industries.

Today we have become an established brand, supplying a broad range of the world’s leading ship owners and shipping companies.

Mission

To be an innovative and leading brand in customer-oriented work/safety concepts, focused exclusively on the maritime and offshore industries, and to contribute to improvement of work performance and efficiency.

Vision

To be known as a specialist in and reliable long-term partner for maritime safety-wear solutions.

Organization

Short lines of communication, informal and open but well organized. Customer-oriented, flexible logistics with a never-out-of-stock system and in–house logo printing and embroidery facilities for immediate delivery. Emphasis on after-sales service.

Product

Vertical integration, joint-venture production agreements and immediate end-user orders without sales agents assure value for money; we take full responsibility for our products. Unconditionally in compliance with recent EN-Norms and SOLAS Regulations (IMO). Clear segmentation towards various maritime target groups and working environments.

Quality

Quality is guaranteed by test reports from independent labs (SGS, Centexbel). Products are certified by Notified Bodies (Germanischer Lloyd, DNV) and are SOLAS-approved (IMO). Scandia performs its own QC during various stages of production and final inspection in the Netherlands, resulting in reliable products that are all in accordance with ISO-9001:2000 (DNV).

Environmental and social awareness

Scandia’s Code of Conduct, including environmental care standards, is of key importance in all dealings with our contract suppliers; we are concerned not only with achieving financial results but also and equally with our impact on the global environment as a whole.

Customer approach

We aim to maintain close and long-standing cooperation with our network of shipping companies and to translate feedback from the market into made to measure maritime solutions; our partners can rely on our expertise.
