Scandia Sponsors Expedition to the North Pole
April 09, 2020
Set on a mass of floating ice in the Arctic Ocean, well out of civilisation's reach, lies The Northern Pole of Inaccessibility.
In February of 2021, twenty-seven-year-old Kris Law, a personal trainer and student of innovation, design, and sustainability at the Open University in Glasgow, and Kris's team from the Ice Warrior Project will attempt to reach this frozen destination, all for a great cause.
In addition to doing the near-impossible, the Ice Warrior Project will be collecting critical data on ice thickness, atmospheric chemistry, and pollution levels alongside studying how polar bears are responding to their rapidly changing environment.
To achieve this, Kris's team must cover 800 miles in about 80 days while facing temperatures around -40°C. Drawn to this expedition by curiosity and environmentalism, Kris and the Ice Warrior Project team have turned their efforts to fundraising. We are thrilled, then, to support Kris and the Ice Warrior Project team in this incredible endeavour as part of our commitment to corporate sustainability.
While progress in training and fundraising has slowed due to the coronavirus outbreak, the Ice Warrior Project remains on schedule. In the meantime, we will continue following Kris and the team's journey. Join us on social to stay up-to-date and find out how you can get involved!
